Augusta – Claude S. Owens, born November 7, 1935 in Barnes, Arkansas, died April 19, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Brown Owens, his parents, John and Jessie Owens, and his brother, Harris Owens.

Mr. Owens will have a private memorial service with burial to follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

He served his country, first in the Marines, and then ending his career as a Naval Chief Petty Officer. After his military service, he continued his working years in various positions, from Lloyd's of London as a chief engineer, to a two year commitment in the Peace Corps in Africa with his wife, Wanda. He finished his life as a farmer in southern Indiana.

He is survived by his brother, Rolland Owens of Ozark, Arkansas, a sister, Johnnie Yoakum of Waxahachie, TX., a sister in law, Martha Brown McKnight of Evans, GA., two brothers in law, James H. Brown of Louisville, KY., and Warren M. "Buddy" Brown of New Washington, IN. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews.
