OUR MOTHER

Some gave wood
Some gave stone
But you alone were the reason
Our house was a home

You weren't perfect
But we didn't care
'Cause when others would fail us
You would still be there

You gave us life
You nurture us still
Just know we loved you then
And we always will

From Bill Leflar:

Two days after my mother died, I was talking to my dad in the privacy of my old room at the family home. He shared with me that he was thinking of an old song called, "My Buddy". The song was written in 1922 by Gus Kahn and has since been performed by many artists. Here are the lyrics:

Life is a book that we study
Some of its leaves bring a sigh
There it was written by a buddy
That we must part, you and I

Nights are long since you went away
I think about you all through the day
My buddy, my buddy
Nobody quite so true

Miss your voice, the touch of your hand
Just long to know that you understand
My buddy, my buddy
Your buddy misses you

Miss your voice, the touch of your hand
Just long to know that you understand
My buddy, my buddy
Your buddy misses you

Your buddy misses you, yes I do
