Later she married Irish-American Thomas John Donnelly, on October 18, 1881 in Cazenovia, Madison County, New York. They lived in Canastota, Madison County where he worked as a train conductor, and they raised seven children: Thomas James Donnelly, Helen Margaret Donnelly Dietz, Mary Lillian "Mame" Donnelly Barrett, Nora Donnelly, Catherine Donnelly, John Dardis Donnelly, and Dorothy Donnelly Heintz.
Nora was almost 97 when she died on October 27, 1958 in Cicero, Onondaga County, New York. She is buried next to her beloved husband in Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Cazenovia. The Heffernans are descended from Eneas Heffernan (6th century), a Bishop of Emly, and from later Heffernans who were Knights of Malta.
