Harold was born on June 8, 1931 in Farson, Iowa to Clarence and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Mefford.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. After the serving in the Army, he worked for the railroad then Mutual of Omaha with his offices in Chillicothe and St. Joseph, MO.
Harold married Peggy Johnson on April 24, 1963 in Joplin, MO. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2007.
In 1974, Harold began Mefford Pest Control in Cameron, which he worked with his two sons and was active in the business until his death.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2615, American Legion and VFW, all of Cameron.
Survivors: 2 sons, Brian and wife, Amy Mefford, Brad and wife, Laurie Mefford, Cameron; daughter, Stormy Newton Muselman and husband, Randy Muselman, Trenton; sister, Millie and husband, Bob Kimzey, Zephyrhills, FL; 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joshua and Jacob Newton, Taylor and Griffin Mefford, Aiden and Maddisson Mefford; 2 great-grandchildren.
Services: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Poland-Thompson Chapel, Cameron. Visitation: 7-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial: Cat Creek Cemetery, Gilman City, MO. Memorial Fund: American Cancer Society.
