Elected Gold Hill town Marshall from 1860-63. He then went to work for the Wells Fargo Company in 1863 and was stationed in San Francisco CA on their behalf.
While living there he took sick and died of Brain Fever on Dec. 15, 1864.
His body was shipped home on the Virginia & Truckee RR and he was buried in the Gold Hill Cemetery on Dec. 20, 1864.
