M.E. "Buckshot" Johnston
Services for M.E. "Buckshot" Johnston, 73, of Palestine will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Westwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery with members of the William Foster Masonic Lodge 312 of Frankston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnston died Friday in a Tyler Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1931 in Elkhart to Frank Basil Johnston and Eva Thompson Johnston.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ellen Wilbanks and Helen Johnston; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Johnston of Palestine; sons, Gary Johnston and wife Deannette of Palestine, Mike Johnston and wife April of Lake Palestine, Jamie Jordan and wife Monika of Grapevine, and John Jordan and wife Donna of Palestine; daughters, Brenda Payne and husband Tommy of Grapeland and Linda Danson and husband Rob of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; sisters, Gereleane Little of Palestine, Virginia Andrews of Austin and Betty Davis of Palestine; and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Johnston was a Baptist. He was a member of William Foster Lodge No. 312 in Frankston, Sharon Temple in Tyler, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Knights Templar. Mr. Johnston was an honorary member of the FFA chapter at Westwood. He was active in the events of Westwood school district and served on the Westwood ISD School Board for many years.
"Buckshot" retired from Lone Star Gas Company following 40 years of service. He than became a full-time rancher.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hutchison, Jerry Hutchison, Donnie Dowdy, Kenneth Dunnam, Eddie Parker and Marshall James. In addition to all friends of the family, honorary pallbearers will be Connie Warren, Dude Massey, Jim Kelso, Porter Herod and Lonnie Andrews.

Caroline Permelia Johnston Overstreet Strother buried at this cemetery is his grandfather John Curren Johnston's sister.
The Johnston family are from Carroll County Mississippi via Georgia and North Carolina
