Walter H. Schambach, 82, of Carpentersville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
    He was born Jan. 26, 1918 in Dundee, the son of John and Rose (Huber) Schambach.
    He had been a resident of Carpentersville since 1957. He had been employed as a mechanic for many years before retiring. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
    Survivors include a daughter, Suzann (David) Christensen of Elgin; a son, Wayne (Linda) Schambach of Elgin; a grandson, Brian Cowan of Elgin; two brothers, Arthur Schambach of Nevada and Elmer (Dorothy) Schambach of Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister, Carlyn Vincent of Musotah, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews including Phyllis Kaptain of Elgin.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Schambach; and two sisters, Frances Kaptain and Eva Schambach.
    Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday in the Apostolic Christian Church, Elgin with the church in charge of services. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
    Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
    Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven Nursing Home.
