She was born Nov. 19, 1904, at Fayette, Mo., to Charlie J. and Elizabeth (Crews) Smith. When she was just six months old, she moved with her family to Crowell, Texas, where she attended schools. She graduated in 1924.
She married Otis Ray Abston on Dec. 6, 1924, at Floydada, Texas. The couple lived there until 1932, when they moved to Coffeyville. She worked at Lou Allen Hat Shop. Later, Mrs. Abston managed the Jarold Shop for ladies clothing from 1936 until 1979, when she retired from that job. Mr. Abston preceded his wife in death August 1983.
Mrs. Abston was a member of First Christian Church, Queen Esther Sunday School class, and Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Abston, a brother and a sister.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel. Burial is at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, both of Coffeyville.
Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Family visitation is from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family welcomes memorials to First Christian Church, Coffeyville.
