Joseph M. Shipp, 65, of Oberlin, died Saturday at home.
He retired as a firefighter from Harrisburg International Airport and had been a part-time court deputy for the Dauphin County Sheriff's Department; a former assistant chief of Citizens Fire Company, Oberlin; and a member of Mount Pleasant Fire Company and Chapter 13, Retired Public Employees of Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his wife Patricia A. Schmidt Shipp; a son, Michael E., of Middletown; two daughters, Christine E. Kohl, of Chambers Hill and Cynthia M. Shipp, at home; his mother and stepfather, Dorothy Yaple Keim and Omar Keim of Swatara Township; two brothers, Jack of Melrose, Fla. and Charles, Jr. of Paxtang; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
