Effie Fay Alexander was born on May 1, 1920. She was a homemaker for her husband and her four children - Lucinda, Roy, Will, and Susan. At the outbreak of World War 2, Effie's husband Roy joined the Navy; they were lucky in that he never had to go overseas. The war ended while he was still in training. She was never the type to complain even though she was not treated well by her husband. She stuck it out for her children whom she loved very much.
Throughout most of her adult life, Effie lived in the same house in Neodesha, Kansas. She loved to cook and garden. She had lots of grandkids and great grandkids whom she loved to spend time with. Everyone who knew her was bound to receive at least one handwritten letter from her every week. Her family members looked forward to her letters, even when they got difficult to read. She called her great grandkids her "little sweethearts" and they loved to spend time with her as well. Effie was a wonderful person who was loved by everyone who knew her. They admired her love for her family and her strength. She had lots of interesting stories about growing up during the Great Depression and living through World War 2. During the war, she worked as a CNA to help out with the war effort. Her family still has flowers that she grew in her garden and letters and cards she wrote to them a long time ago.
