Jeremiah C Brown, aged 75 years, died at 11:30 Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry J. Sims. The funeral will occur at 3 pm this afternoon from the Episcopal church. The body will be interred in Morris Hill cemetery beside the body of his wife who died here in 1897. He was born in Illinois (sic - he was born in Canada) and in 1850 at age 19 crossed the plains to California. Placer mining for 14 years, then returned to Illinois. West again in 1865, settling in Nebraska. Nine years later, to Evanston, Wyoming (mayor; thence to Reno, Nevada (sheriff, Washoe county), thence to Idaho. Judge at Logan County, later Lincoln County. Judge Brown's grandfather (sic - it was his great grandfather) served R.W.; 2 brothers killed in Civil war. A son of the deceased, Harry A Brown, of Shoshone, arrived last night to be at the funeral. He served in the Civil war along with his brother, Ira M Putney, Jr. and the two brothers who died; he married Sarah Rowley in 1867 in Nebraska. She died in 1897. Jeremiah was the father of Harry Abel Brown & Florence Anna Brown who married Harry Jones Sims (Syms).
