Four of the Lewis brothers served in the CSA during the Civil War. Pvt. William Russell Lewis served in the 35th Regiment,Company "A", Tennessee Infantry(5th Infantry),(1st Mountain Rifle Regiment), along with his three brothers. He was mortally wounded 23 Apr 1863 at the Battle for Murfreesboro.
He was born in the Mountain Creek area, near Dibrell, Warren Co., TN. His father was Russell Lewis and mother was Delilah Moore Lewis.
