HARTSVILLE – W. Blaney McNeese Sr., 62, a retired employe of Sonoco Products Co., died Monday at his home of an apparent heart attack. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Mrs. Effie Blackmon McNeese and the late Benjamin Parrott McNeese. He was a member of the Oldtimers Club at Sonoco where he worked for 32 years. Mr. McNeese was a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge of Scottish Rite Masons and Omar Temple of the Shrine. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Cleo Rollins McNeese of the home; his mother of Hartsville; a son, W. B. McNeese Jr. of the home; three daughters, Miss Carolyn McNeese of Brunswick, Ga., Mrs. Nancy O'Neal of Tallahassee, Fla. and Mrs. Mary Linda Horne of Hartsville; three brothers, Rankin and John McNeese of Hartsville and B. P. McNesse of Sumter; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Crowder of Burlington, N. C.; eight grand-children and two great-grand-children. Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Swift Creek Baptist Church. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.
