Gertrude graduated from Strong Vincent High School, then worked for Hammermill Paper Co. for 10 years. She also managed Hirsimaki Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Conneaut. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and raising African violets and daisies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eli N. Hirsimaki, whom she married April 13, 1946, and who died in 1997; and two brothers, Arne Aho and E. Robert Aho.
Survivors include two sons, Paul A. Hirsimaki of Columbia, Md., and Eric E. Hirsimaki of North Olmsted, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a nephew.
