James Howard Hayes, 57, of Rt. 6, Box 118, Huntsville, Ark., died Dec. 21, 1991, at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1934, at Whitener, Ark., the son of Howard and Eva Shepherd Hayes. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Northwest Oil Company of Fayetteville.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Velma Dennis Hayes of the home; one son, Jerry Hayes of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hayes of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Lawrence of Huntsville and Mrs. Betty Easley of Peculair, Mo.; one nephew, Perry Thompson of Garden City, Mo.; and two great-nephews, Matt Thompson and Mart Thompson, both of Garden City, Mo.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Day and the Rev. Harold DuVall officiating. Interment was in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Billy Joe Ferguson, Perry Thompson, Keith Ward, Rodney Wages, Donnie Holland and Billy Bouchard. Honorary pallbearers were Vester Bowman, Jack Reynolds, Charles Day, Art Bolinger and Raymond McElhaney.
