WITTER - Calvin D. "Red" Dennis, 78, of Witter, Ark., died April 9, 2010, at his home. He was born April 6, 1932, at Aurora, Ark., the son of Sidney Eugene and Edna Arilda Cain Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Norman Eugene, James Coyt and Ervan Cecil and two sisters, Claudia Vay McCollough and Velma Jahwanda Hayes.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jean Keck Dennis of the home; one son, Kevin Dennis of the home; three daughters, Gina Charles of Springdale, Ark., Renae Smith and husband Travis of Springdale, Ark., and Rhonda Jameson of California; three granddaughters, Jennifer Garner, Amanda Charles and Christi Smith of Springdale and one grandson, David Charles and wife Anita of Fayetteville; five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; two stepgreat-granddaughters and one stepgreat-grandson; one brother, Boyd Ernest Dennis of Aurora and three sisters, Vivian Elaine Bowman and Vercie Reynolds of Huntsville and Sharon Kay Myers of Aurora.
He was a retired carpenter of more than 40 years in the Springdale area.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville with the Rev. Jim Spurlock officiating. Private interment was in the Witter Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Ark. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles McConnell, Wilford Garrison, Alvin Hooper, Dr. Ivan Box, Donald Quarter, Dalton Martin, J. C. Toothman, Pete Brandenburg, Jake Parker, Marvin Boling, Gary Bowen and Bobby Herrington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Witter Cemetery in care of Joy Russell, 14825 Highway 23, Witter, AR 72776 or Henderson Creek Cemetery in care of Sharon Mayes, Post Office Box 512, Huntsville, AR 72740-0512.
