APEX, NC - James Harold Babcock, 84, of Apex died peacefully at home on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Mr. Babcock was born in Kenmore, NY to Harold C. Babcock and Rachel Sharpe Babcock on May 8, 1925.
Mr. Babcock served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII from 1943 until 1945.
He was a professional baseball player for the farm system of the Brooklyn Dodgers for eight years.
Mr. Babcock is survived by his children, Susan B. Marrow (Rodney) of Greensboro, James R. Babcock of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Jeffrey C. Babcock (Holly) of Apex; his grandchildren, Melissa B. Moore (Dave), Christine E. Babcock, Dianne B. Rountree (Adam), Christopher Babcock, and David Babcock.
He is also survived by his sister, Ann Saxton of Kenmore, NY.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life with Military Honors was held at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 South Hughes Street, Apex, NC 27502.
