Ruth Boone, 96, died Friday, October 20, 2000 at Woodstock Residence, Woodstock, Illinois. Formerly a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 32 years, she moved to Illinois in 1998 to live near her two sons. Before moving to Albuquerque, she had lived in Elgin, Illinois for 20 years.
    Mrs. Boone was an active gardener all her life and loved growing African Violets and entering flower shows. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, August 5, 1904, the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie (Simons) Jenkins. She graduated from Bloomsburg Normal School, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania and taught kindergarten and primary grades.
    Mrs. Boone is survived by two sons, Ross (Vera) of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin and Edward J. (Gerda) of Campton Township; and a daughter, Mara of Albuquerque; and a special friend who helped her through her later years of life, Maria Bradshaw; seven grandchildren, Steve Boone of Normal, Lorraine Hoffman (Doug) Galbraith of Manassas, Virginia, Maureen Boone (Gary) Fisk of Geneva, Merrill (Jan) Boone of Arlington, Virginia, Edward (Julia) Boone of Duluth, Georgia, Van (Tara) Hoffman of Alexandria, Virginia and Berthold (Melanie) Boone of Chicago; she is also survived by six great grandsons; and a cousin, Gertrude Simons of Pittston, Pennsylvania.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boone was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Merrill Kenneth Boone; and a brother, Edward S. Jenkins.
    Private interment will take place at a later date in the Columbarium at the Church of the Holy Communion in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
    Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
    Arrangements are by the Norris Funeral Home, St. Charles, IL.
