The funeral for James Thomas Dewitt was held at the Barkley Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, February 21, at two. Rev. Glen Cantrell of Williamstown was the minister. Mrs. Champ B. Todd sang and Mrs. Earl H. Barkley was at the organ. The pall bearers were Glenn Miller, Robert Gorrell, Hallie Little, Paul Shuman, Jim Rogers, and Rozert L. Downs. The burial was in Forest Grove cemetery. James Thomas Dewitt, son of James and Mary Knopp Dewitt, was born May 1, 1881, in Lewis county, where he spent his entire life. He passed away at the Prairie View Rest Home, Lewistown, February 19, 1961. He was 79 years, 9 months, and 18 days of age. He united with the Centenary Methodist church early in life. He married Jessie Tuley in 1923. He was preceded in death by his wife, his mother and father, one brother and five sisters. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Johnson of Moscow Mills and Mrs. Dollie Johnson of Canton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
