Mrs. Crouse was born on July 16, 1903, in Emporium, a daughter of the late Grant and Gertrude Duryea Carpenter. She attended Lock Haven Normal School and Warren Conservatory of Music. Mrs. Crouse worked as a school teacher in the Sugar Run area and later was employed at Warren State Hospital for several years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Clarendon Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Donald F. Crouse, Bradford, and Stanley W. Crouse, Warren; two daughters, Muriel H. Zevan, Vestal, N.Y. and Eileen J. Daniels, Clarendon; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Francis Crouse, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1925, and who died in February 1957; a daughter, Phyllis M. Smith; a son, Ronald L. Crouse; two brothers, Vernal Carpenter and Thomas Carpenter; two sisters, Emma Smith and Amelia Weiskopff; one grandson, John Lee Crouse; and one great-grandson, Jeremy Richards.

Friends may call at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., on Tuesday for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11 a.m., with Rev. Martin Reynolds, pastor, Clarendon Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the McKean County Memorial Park, Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
