Ada Bridges, the daughter of Edward G. and Lena (Timken) Feldman, was born on March 7, 1910. When Ada was 6, her parents bought a farm 2 miles east of the present Meade State Lake. She attended Happy Hill School, a one-room country school with one teacher for all eight grades.

She liked to tell how she and her sister would ride their horse to school in all kinds of weather. Since most of the pupils arrived on horseback, the school had a pen for the horses. It was the custom at that time to burn cow chips to cook and heat with. She told of how the girls would go out into the pasture and stack cow chips in piles. Later one of her brothers would come along with a wagon and take them to the house where they were stacked.

Ada and Paul L. Bridges were married in Meade, Kansas on April 4, 1931. They made their first home on a farm in Finney County. In 1936 they moved back to Meade. Ada and Paul were the parents of two daughters and grandparents of six grandsons.

Ada was an active member of the Meade Methodist Church where she participated in the choir, Sunday School, and the Women's Circle. She especially enjoyed working on projects for the Women's Annual Bazaar. She was also a member of the Priscilla Club.

Ada continued to live in Meade until 1995, when she moved to the Windcrest Care Center in Abilene, TX to be near family. She died there on December 18, 2000.
