Dirk Engelkes Ammermann is my Third Great Grandfather.He was born on 11 Jan 1794 in the town of Stapelmoor which is southeast of the City of Bundee. He is the son of Engelke Geerts and Taalke Dirks. He married Meemkee Wubbena Polymann on 25 April 1826 in Bunde.To this union were born 9 children whom all immigrated to America. Dirk and Meemke and children Engelke, Talea, Wobbina, Martha, Hilkea,and Martin Gerd, arrived in New York Harbor August 25,1865 on the ship Laura. The other 4 children were all ready in Illinois.
Children of Dirk and Meemkee are:
1.W.D. Ammermann married Trintje Petersen
2.Antje Ammermann married Geerd George F. Petersen
3.Engelekes D. Ammermann married Greitje Heddens
4.Talea Ammermann married Heiko Groeneveld
5.Ikea Ammermann married Hinderk Winterberg
6.Wobbina Ammermann married Hinderk Fruhdag
7.Martha Ammermann Married Peter Eckhoff
8.Hilkea Ammermann married Cornelius Bode
9.Martin Gerd Polymann Ammermann
I would like to thank Alva Find a grave member and friend for all the photos and hard work that he put into helping locate the Ammermann decendants. Alva had notified me that I had Engelke and Meemkee in the wrong cem. and corrected me and then asked if I would like him to photograph the other Ammermann's. He ask for a list and I gave him some names and had to tell him I dint know where they are all buried, the next thing I know he took photos made the memorials and tranferred them all to me ! What a wonderful person to do all that for a stranger. Thank you Alva for making my dream come true to find my relatives.
