William served as a Private First Class, 106th Evac Hospital, Medical Department, U.S. Army during World War II.

Either he or his parents resided in Sussex County, Delaware at one time prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 6, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being a Welder and as being Single, without dependents.

William died due to a "Non Battle" related incident during the War.

At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (Pennsylvania) instead of his state of residence, as was normally done, (Delaware).
