Kaye Washburn, 87, of Centerville died Monday, July 18, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.

Kaye was born May 8, 1918, the daughter of N.V. and Grace(Long)Craig in Centerville. She graduated from Centerville High School and Stephen's College in Columbia, MO. She then attended the University of Iowa and later the University of Utah.

She married Hugh Washburn in 1941 and they lived in Gary, Indiana until 1945. Then they moved to Centerville. They later divorced. She worked at Indian Hills Community College and retired after 20 years as registrar at the Centerville campus. She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church, a former member of the Hospital Auxiliary and Outlook Club. She was the secretary for the Appanoose Country Club for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynn Cronk and her husband, Dennis, of Florida, Lee Helleur and her husband, Bill, of Centerville and Lorie Demry and her husband, Rick Edmundson of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Brad Cronk and wife, Adie, Shelly Crouch and husband, Jon, Suzy Richards and husband, Rod, Amy Emzen, Michael Helleur and wife, Martha, Carl Hubbard and husband, Don , and Beth Demry; three step-grandsons; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, July 23, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, with Pastor Carl Heien officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call all day Friday with their family present from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Drake Avenue Christian Church or the Indian Hills Booster Club and left or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. PO Box 6, Centerville, IA 52544.
