Daughter of John O Robinett and Vera Leontine Brewer, Verna Louise Adams was a third generation native Texan born in Huntsville, Texas. Her family were early settlers of Texas and several fought for the C.S.A. during the Civil War. Her father moved the family to a home on La Branch St. in Houston, Texas in the 1920s. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and during the 1930s and 40's she worked for Chamberlain's Camera shop in the Gulf building in downtown Houston. There she met her future husband, Lloyd Acker Adams, who worked for the Gulf Oil Company. When Lloyd returned from the war he and Verna married in August, 1945 in St. Pauls Methodist Church in Houston. They lived in small apartments near her parent's house until they moved to a larger home in West University Place in 1952. Verna now had a career as a housewife and was very interested in her home and children: Lloyd Acker Adams, Jr and Raymond Harper Adams. She died in 1970 in Houston after a brief illness.
