Albert, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away with his family at his side. He was survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Genie; daughters: Barbara Gallegos (husband Eddie) and Nellie Salas (husband Toby); brother Francisco "Frank" Gurule (wife Gloria); five grandchildren: Thomas, Andrew, Felicia, Annie, and Scott; and great-grandson Caleb.

Albert was a member of the Catholic Church and former State Senator and State Representative.

Visitation and Rosary were on April 5, 2010 from at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Final visitation and Mass of Christian Burial were on April 6, 2010 at the same Church. Committal Service followed in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Thomas Vigil, Andrew Vigil, Richard Gallegos, Orlando Vigil, Bob Livingston, and George Flores.
