Mrs. Julian Atwood Claimed By Death
Popular Cadiz Lady Died Tuesday Night at Hopkinsville Hospital
Was Native of Christian County but had resided In Cadiz Since 1911 Mrs. Florence Duncan Atwood, the beloved wife of Mr. Julian Atwood, of this city, died Tuesday night at two o'clock at the hospital in Hopkinsville where she had been for more than two weeks past. She had been in serious condition for some four weeks with a complication of troubles, and for several days before the end it had been realized that her chances of recovery were very slight.
Mrs. Atwood was a native of Christian county, and was the daughter of J. D. and Susan Duncan. She was united in marriage to Mr. Atwood January 18, 1911, and since that time had resided in Cadiz. Two children were born to this union. Susan died at the age of six months, and Florence Evelyn is the name of the surviving daughter. Mrs. Atwood is also survived by one sister and one brother - Mrs. Eugene Whitlow, of Los Angeles, California, and Forrest H. Duncan, of Hopkinsville. Mrs. Clint Cayce and Messrs. Wallace and Henry Boyd, all of Hopkinsville, are half sister and half brothers.
Mrs. Atwood united with the Christian church in her girlhood and had since been a member of the church and ever remained true and loyal to her Christian profession.
She was a woman of sterling character, kind and thoughtful as a neighbor, indulgent and sacrificing as a wife and mother, and a woman held in highest esteem by her host of friends. The sympathy of all go out to the bereaved husband and heart broken daughter and other loved ones in their hour of deepest sorrow.
The remains were brought home from Hopkinsville yesterday morning, accompanied by a number of friends both of Cadiz and Hopkinsville.
The funeral will take place this morning at ten o'clock at the beautiful Atwood home on East Main street, and the burial will follow in the family lot in East End Cemetery.
