She was born June 17, 1924, in Swayzee, and resided in Anderson most of her life. Norma Jean was a graduate of Anderson High School, attended Purdue University and received her BA and MA from Ball State University.
She retired as a second grade elementary teacher from Anderson Community Schools after 40 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anderson, Indiana State Teacher's Association and Madison County Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married July 14, 1946, Eddie C. Rockwell, who passed away in 2006; parents, Walter and Marmell (Moore) Haynes; and special friend, Zoe Ellen Clay.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the South Chapel with the Rev. Bill Mathys officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
