We are sorry to report that Mr. Sam Bland, who has been a sufferer from cancer for several years, passed away Feb 3. He left a large family to mourn his death.

MR. SAMUEL BLAND of near Kirk, died Feb 3, 1900 of cancer. Mr. Bland was born Sept 17, 1837, and has always been a resident of this county, where he will be greatly missed. He is the father of 14 children, 7 of whom survive him. Mr. Bland bore his sufferings patiently and was willing to die. He had not spoken for 3 days until Saturday morning, when the end came. He told the family that he was dying, and called all the children and told them to meet him in heaven. Mr. Bland was a devout member of the Catholic Church. His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Hardinsburg. The family has the sympathy of the entire community.
