Fried were Catharina Dorothea, Johann Wilhelm, Catharina Elisabeth, Sophia and Christian Hermann. Johann married Anna M. Hornung at Boston, MA in 1849. After the birth of his son Fredrick in 1863, the family went by ship to Nicaragua. After crossing the Isthmus on mule-back, they set sail for San Francisco. They Arrived in San Francisco on March 17, 1866
