Salvatore Ambrose, age 79, passed away on March 28, 2010 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Iona Kingsley Ambrose; 2 children, Brian Ambrose, Chugiak, Alaska and Josephine Ambrose Hopkins, Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter Michelle Baker; 2 great grandchildren, Michael and Jordyn Baker, Port Byron, NY.
Mr. Ambrose lived most of his life in Auburn, New York and moved to Lady Lake, Florida in 1992. He served in the US Army in Germany and after his tour of duty, joined the Army National Guard for a few years. He retired from Parker-Hannifin, Clyde, NY in 1991, after 15 years as a machinist. He also owned and operated the Sunoco gas station on Clark Street, Auburn, NY during the 1970's.
Memorial services for Salvatore Ambrose will be held 2 pm Wednesday, May 31, 2010 in the chapel at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, Florida. Interment will follow at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family requests that all gifts/donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or the Alzheimer's Association.
