Albert Frank
Albert “Al” Frank, 83, of Fort Collins died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Congregational Church in Loveland. Private interment of cremated remains at Grandview Cemetery has taken place.
Al Frank was born Feb. 6, 1918, in Loveland to William and Mary Bath Frank. His father died in a farming accident when Al was 8 years old. His mother married Jacob Ehrlich and the family moved to a farm east of Fort Collins in 1928.
On Dec. 19, 1937, Albert married Ruth Deines at the German Congregational Church in Fort Collins.
After their marriage, the couple was in the farming and cattle feeding business for 28 years in the Fort Collins area. Their farming was interrupted for six years by a move to Oakland, Calif., where Albert worked for Owens-Illinois Glass factory. He also served one year in the Navy. In 1948 they returned to Fort Collins, where Albert was employed with Colorado State University Physical Plant for six years.
Albert was a lifelong member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He served on the church council and was actively involved in the construction of the church. He also was a member of the VFW and a past member of the American Legion. The greatest joy in Albert’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fishing, hunting, and gardening were Albert’s hobbies during his retirement years. He also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in athletic events.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Frank of Fort Collins; a daughter, Beverly Strobel and her husband, Calvin, of Drake; four grandchildren, Curt Strobel of Fort Collins, Kristi Niswender of Greeley, Steve Strobel of Englewood, and Scott Strobel of Loveland; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Dee Southwick of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Reuben Ehrlich of Milliken and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, his stepfather, a brother, four sisters, three stepbrothers, three stepsisters and one previous great-granddaughter.
