Bertha Dickerson Corbin departed this life on Saturday, September 26, 1992 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Camden, NJ on September 30, 1919. Her parents were the late Elvia and William Dickerson. Bertha was the widow of the late George "Doc" Corbin who died in 1990. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Dickerson and a brother, William "Bill" Dickerson.

At the age of 5, her family moved to Salem where Bertha attended public school. During her working years, she was employed at Brown's Nursing Home and the Salem County Nursing Home from which she retired in 1981 after 25 years of service. She was an active member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church. She was Pastor's Steward for our former pastor, Rev. Carl Wade, and our present pastor, Rev. Wilfred D. Lewis. She was a member of the Ada Tyler Missionary Society, Steward Board, Stewardess Board, Chaplain of the Lay Organization and a charter member of the Hostess Club. She was also a member of the Cuff-Barksdale Auxiliary #444 of the American Legion and she had sung with the Women's Community Choir.

Among those left to mourn her passing are two sons: Jessup Johnson of Salem and Harold Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers: Fred Cubbage and Albert Dickerson of Salem; two sisters: Frances Gunner and Rachel Bryant of Salem; one aunt, Edith Cannon of Camden, NJ; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
