He grew up in Cook, where he graduated from high school in 1960. He then completed the mechanics course at the Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis. Len served 6 years with the Army National Guard, with the unit based in Virginia. He was united in marriage to Patricia "Patty" Loomis on February 8, 1964 in Virginia. They moved to St. Paul, where Len worked for a time for the 3M Company, then was employed for 21 years with Standard Spring & Alignment. In 1993 he retired, and they moved back to Cook settling on the DeRusha family homestead. Len was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cook. He was also a member of the NRA. Len enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, feeding the birds, walking his dog Trapper, and giving his grandkids rides on the 4 wheeler. He liked coffee time with family and friends and good conversation. Len was man of high integrity, honesty, and was most willing to help others in their needs. He had good work ethic and took pride in his work, and did it well.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lenda Jean DeRusha on October 3, 1968,; his father Leonard on November 19, 1989, and his mother, Eugena on September 6, 1984.
Funeral arrangements are with the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Monday at the First Baptist Church in Cook. The co-officiants will be Rev. Randy Swenson and Rev. Wally Olson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Cook Community Cemetery.
