Paul Massie was an inmate in the Mt. Hope Hospital in 1880. At that time my ancestor Julie Anna Massie Boyd was the only close relative who was still living and she died three years later. Therefore if his condition was such that he was institutionalized in 1880 it is difficult to imagine who in Nelson County would have taken him in so I would think that it was most likely that he died in Baltimore. His body was likely returned to Nelson, which could have been done by rail, for burial.
