Emma Minna Zarantenello nee Bebensee was born on October 14, 1897 in Hamburg/Wadsbek, Germany to Paul Hinrich Gustave Bebensee (1863 - 1914) Maria Charlotte Anna Sievers Bebensee (1867 - 1920). Emma emigrated from Germany to the United States on the maiden voyage of the SS Vaterland, May 14, 1914. She then traveled to Elk Creek, Nebraska to where her brothers, Hans and Gustav Bebensee were living. She met and married Albert J. Alberts on January 21, 1915. They were blessed with seven children: Robert, George, Roy, Doris, Flora, Leona and Idella. They later divorced and she married Bruno Zarantenello.
