Fannie Louise McKie was born to Oscar Ellis McKie and Louise Elizabeth “Bessie” Hiroms McKie of Morgan’s Point. Her birth place was La Porte, Texas. Louise’s father was a fisherman who was born in Baytown. Her mother was born in Polk County, Texas. Louise’s parents married in 1912 and lived in Morgan’s Point most of their married lives. The McKies had six children between 1915 and 1930—Lawrence Oscar, Roy Vernon, George E., Lavera Faye, Fannie Louise, and Annie Mae McKie .

Louise was the fifth child in the McKie family and attended La Porte schools through 8th grade. In 1946 in Rockport, Texas, she married Waylon Willard Baker (1917 Berlin, Oklahoma –1972 Morgans Point, Texas). Waylon was a commercial fisherman. They were married 26 years and had children. Waylon died in 1972. Their home at the time of his death was 3011 East Main in Morgan’s Point. Louise died 14 years later at age 62.
