Thomas Stanley Ayers was born in Oklahoma Territory. His mother Mary “Mollie” Ayers was born in North Carolina in 1867. Thomas’ parents were listed on his death certificate as Bruce Ayers and Mary L. Nerrell, but by 1900, Mary Ayers was a widow in Ardmore, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Although she had 10 pregnancies, she had four living children that year. Between 1900 and 1910, Mollie moved to Morgan’s Point, Texas. She lived on “Bay Shore Road” with her two children Thomas and Annie By 1910, Annie was married to William F. Ferrell, a fisherman in Morgan’s Point. Mollie lived close by and Thomas attended school. He completed 5th grade. On Thomas’ WWI draft registration, he listed his birthplace as Ardmore, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation) and his occupation as a self-employed boatman.

At age 21, Thomas continued to live in Morgan’s Point with his mother. In the 1920 Census he worked as an agitator in an oil refinery and lived near his sister Anna Ferrell’s family. He married at age 35. By the 1930 Morgan’s Point Census, Thomas was married to Mollie Pearl Wallace (born 1903) of Louisiana. She had two young children, Alice and Thomas Alfred Wallace (1923—1995). In 1940, Thomas worked as a rodman (surveyor’s helper) for an engineering group and made $1200 a year. He continued to rent his Morgan’s Point home, living with wife and stepson Thomas W. Wallace. Thomas,16, attended school and had completed 8th grade. In his WWII draft card, Thomas Stanley identified his residence in Morgan’s Point and his work as United States engineer employed by the Harrisburg District Office. His contact person was his sister Annie Ferrell of La Porte. She was his sister and neighbor. Thomas died in Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston in 1955. His address was recorded as La Porte, “Morgan’s Point Addition.” He was widowed and his occupation was listed as “surveying, employed by the government. “
