Mary Viola Hilborn Moran was born to Justinian Lansdown and Christiania Groat Billings Hilborn at Speaker in Michigan's Sanilac County on December 8, 1867. She married Henry Patrick Moran of Lapeer County on January 2, 1889. Their only child was a daughter, Elsie Lavern, who they adopted in 1899. Viola was a member of the First Baptist Church at Speaker and later, the Melvin Baptist Church. Viola died at Saginaw General Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. on November 12, 1957 and is buried at Fairview Cemetery (Hilborn plot) in Melvin.
