After his wife died, West Wilson wrote back to Scotland and asked Barbara Kennedy to come to America. He was to meet her in New York City. But they would not recognize each other as she had grown up after he left Scotland, so they arranged signals. When the boat was made fast to the pier, a handsome broad-shouldered man, with a white handkerchief tied to his arm made straight for the tall grey-eyed woman with a dainty white handkerchief fluttering from the sleeve of her fur-trimmed coat. They were married and had 4 children, Sara, John West, Christina Barbara, and Dalton Kennedy.
