Alexander's middle name is Wilks. The person who organized the Freedom Church of Christ in 1850 was Elder J.M. Wilks (Peggy Smith Hake). It would seem a reasonable deduction to believe that Alexander's parents gave him that middle name in honor of Elder Wilks.

According to his death certificate, Alexander died in Freedom and not Montreal or Camdenton as some researchers have stated. He died of chronic myocarditis with secondary influenza and pleural infusion. Dr. Myron Jones, D.O. had been taking care of him since March of that year. Abbie Bankhead Wollery was the undertaker in Camdenton who took care of his body for burial.

Gravesite Details

As of this writing, I have not located Alexander's gravesite. Family tradition has it he was buried at this church as he was a member there. However, his wife is buried in Delaware County, OK and died before he did.
