OBITUARY OF LUELLA DELANO

Luella Mounts DELANO, 82, of Hooker, Oklahoma died May 22, 2003 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 24 at First Baptist Church in Hooker, with Rev. Ron Mimms officiating. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

She was born December 25, 1920 on a farm west of Alva, Oklahoma, and moved as a small child with her family to Beaver County, near Gray. She attended the Union School, and graduated from Bethany High School in 1938. She graduated from Venus Beauty School in Wichita, Kansas in 1939.

She married Carl DELANO on May 19, 1940 in Enid, Oklahoma. They lived in the Gray community until moving to Dove Creek, Colorado in 1942, where they farmed. In 1948, they moved to Hooker. She was a member of the Hooker Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Rebekah Lodge, a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce, a Texas County Election Board worker, and a member of the Hagolu Club. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, and was the teacher of Sunbeams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1990, her parents, John and Annie MOUNTS; six brothers, Clarence, Sam, Charlie, Williams, Kenneth and John; and one sister, Stella RIETVELD.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie BROWN of Turpin, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Guymon Home Health Care and Hospice, in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
