Mrs. Mary Eleanor Baylor Ashby, 44, wife of James Marshall Ashby, Churchville, died at the home of her sister, in Miami, Fla., at five a.m., after an illness of three months. The daughter of Mrs. Mary Agnes Crawford Baylor and the late G. Frank Baylor, she was born at Swoope, and had spent her entire life in Augusta County. A graduate of Beverley Manor High School, she attended Farmville State Teachers College.

Mrs. Ashby had taught for 17 years in the Augusta County schools, the last three at Beverley Manor, where she taught the third grade. She was a member of Loch Willow Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Churchville Woman's Club.

Besides her husband, survivors include her mother, Mrs. Mary Agnes Baylor, Swoope, her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Crawford, Swoope, five sisters, Mrs. W.F. Sanderson, Mrs. R.V. Selby, and Mrs. D.H. Harper, all of Richmond; Mrs. R.W. Lorraine and Mrs. W.T. Murphy, of Miami, Fla.; three brothers, George F. Baylor, Staunton; Robert C. Baylor, Washington, and John D. Baylor, Oceanside, Cal.

Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery.
