Miss Caroline Ruhl and Henry H. Brockman were married on 24 December 1865 in Holt County, where the couple's six children were born:

The couple also adopted Grace Titus, an orphan (as shown in the 1900 U.S. Census).
The Brockman family moved to Washington Territory in 1881, and settled on a farm near Rockford in Spokane County. Caroline and Henry Brockman moved after 1900 to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where Henry Harrison Brockman died in 1918. Caroline Brockman afterwards moved to California.

Although no document showing her middle name is known, a Brockman-Ruhl family researcher recalls that an aunt was named Lorraine in honor of Cal.
