Evelyn Livingston Bennett, of Orangeburg, departed this life on the evening of, March 19, 2010, after an extended illness. She was 92.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Livingston, SC, a daughter of the late Atticus Aubin and Florence Elizabeth Smith Livingston.

She moved with her family to Cordova, SC where she lived until her marriage. Mrs. Bennett graduated from the Orangeburg School of Nursing in 1936 and was a registered Nurse at the old Tri-County Hospital and at the Methodist Home Infirmary.

For the last two years, Mrs. Bennett has a been a resident of Longwood Plantation (Assisted Living). She was a long-standing member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, SC, and enjoyed playing the piano for her Sunday School and taking part in her church circle.

Mrs. Bennett was the widow of John Bennett, Jr. and is survived by her son, John Bennett, III of Orangeburg; daughters, Beverly Bennett of Chapin, SC, Faye B. Hightower and husband O'Neal of West Columbia; two grandsons: Anthony O. Hightower of West Columbia, SC and Dr. Marcus B. (Rebecca) Weaver-Hightower and great-grandson Harrison Weaver-Hightower of Grand Forks, ND. Mrs. Bennett also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Orangeburg.
