SARDIS, Ga. - Mrs. Doris Chance Burroughs, age 98, passed away on March 15, 2010 at Effingham Care Center in Springfield. Mrs. Burroughs was born in Jenkins County, Georgia, and was a daughter of the late Lessie Herrington and Howard Rackley Chance. Prior to moving to Springfield, she was a resident of Sardis for more than fifty years. Mrs. Burroughs was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and a charter member of Sardis Chapter No. 382 Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Burroughs; and her son, H. Robert "Bob" Burroughs. Survivors are her daughter, Linda Burroughs Bargeron of Smyrna, GA; her sister, Jean Chance of Waynesboro; granddaughters, Kathy Bargeron Blackburn (Gary) of Rincon and Connie Bargeron Ghuman of Savannah; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro.
