Born April 10, 1919, in Galesburg, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Sylvia (Calhoun) Courson.
On Nov. 10, 1934, she married Hubert Piland Sr., at Stillwater, Okla. He died in1984.
Survivors include three sons, James Piland of Newton and John Piland and Donald Piland, both of Lyndon; a daughter, Ida Guca of Griffith, Ind.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with the Rev. Paul Wissink officiating.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
