She was born Karin Gerda Ulrika Grann, daughter of Anders Ludvig Klasson Grann and Hanna Kristina Klasdotter. In June of 1913, her mother put her and her younger brother, Johan Oskar Gunnar Grann on a boat to the United States. Ellis Island records indicate that Karin (age 15) and Johan Grann (age 12) arrived June 24, 1913 in New York. The records also indicate that the children were held about 6 days for "special inquiry." They were officially admitted into the United States on June 30, 1914. Ellis Island records indicate that they were to go to their mother's brother, John F. Magnuson, in Elgin, Texas.
In the Swedish tradition, Karin took the surname Anderson, taken from her fathers' Christian name, Anders. On Dec. 1, 1928, Carrie Anderson married John Anderson, in Williamson Co., Texas.
Carrie Anderson was preceded in death by her father, Anders Ludvig Karlsson Grann and her mother, Hannah Kristina Andersson, both of Sweden. Also her husband, John Anderson, who died Aug. 24, 1974 in Georgetown, Williamson Co., Texas.
Survivors include a sister, Ester Andersson and a half-brother, Olle Emilsson, both of Sweden. Also a brother, Gunnar Oskar Grahn, of Chicago, Illinois. She was also survived by many Magnuson cousins living in the Elgin, Texas area.
