Pedro D. Whitney was the son of Pedro Whitney, born in Maine. On 18 May 1892, he married Mary Bond "Polly" Whitfield, daughter of Seaborn Merritt "Joe" and Hester Stockstill Whitfield. They had seven children, Audrey Jo Whitney Hart; Jack Whitney; Ethel Vivian Whitney Rody; Henry Crass "Bolse" Whitney; Angie Pearl Whitney Mullens; Pedro Coburn Whitney; Mildren Inez Whitney Warren. They had seven grandchildren, Leigh,Terry and Paula hart; Hover Ladner, Rudolph and Roger Whitney, Gail Warren.
This grave, originally in Gainesville Baptist Church, was relocated and the remains reinterred in the early 1960's due to construction of the Mississippi Rocket Test Facility now John C. Stennis Space and Technology Center.
