WORLAND, Wyo. — Dale F. Achziger, 75, a longtime Worland resident, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont., after a sudden stroke.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the United Methodist Church, 1301 Big Horn Avenue with Revered Green officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland.
Dale was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Gering, son of Fred and Katherine (Weglin) Achziger. He graduated from Gering High School in 1952.
Marian and Dale Achziger were married Aug. 23, 1953, in Scottsbluff. To this union three children were born, Jim, Nancy and Elleen. They farmed in the Cedar Valley Community until 1958. The family then moved to Worland in 1959 where they made their home for the past 51 years. Dale farmed until 1987. He then sold cars at Big Horn Chevrolet from 1988 to 1998. He owned and operated D-J Equipment, where he bought and sold used farm equipment from 1974 until the time of his death.
Dale had served on many boards including board member and president of Worland Jaycee’s, Wyoming Federal Land Bank Board of Directors for seven years and president for two years, and Wyoming Pure Seed Board member for several years. He also served on the Washakie County Solid Waste Board, Washakie Beet Growers Association member, Certified Equipment Appraiser working with many lending agencies, member of the United Methodist Church since 1960, serving as a past youth Sunday school teacher, and active in the Methodist Men’s group.
Dale’s hobbies and interests included spending time with family and collecting and restoring old tractors and machinery.
Survivors include his son Jim Achziger (and family) of Fort Morgan, Colo.; daughters Nancy Thiel of Worland, Elleen (Scott) Tumath of Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren Ryan (Nikki) Thiel of Worland, Jodi (Bobby) Schoonover of Casper, Wyo., Jessica Tumath of Arvada, Colo., and great-grandchild Brody Thiel of Worland.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Marian, on Dec. 24, 2007.
